 The Nigeria Extractive Industries Transparency Initiative, NEITI has expressed its commitment to work with credible media organizations in the realization of its mandate.

The Executive Secretary of NEITI Mr. Waziri Adio represented by Mr, Peter Ogbobine, NEITI Director of Legal Services made this known recently in Abuja at the official launch of Extractive360.com, an online media platform.

 

Mr. Ogbobine stated that in pursuance of the principles of EITI and mandate of NEITI, critical organizations like the Extractive360.com have important role to play. He described Extractive360.com as a reputable platform for dissemination of NEITI reports with promise for the future.

‘’As a transparency watchdog, NEITI will always stand with any organization, medium and platform that strives to deepen the implementation of transparency and accountability principles as championed by the EITI’’.

The Vision of Extractive360.com which is “to help achieve a sustainable society through prudent management of Nigeria’s extractive resource is at the heart of what NEITI represents and stands for”, Ogbobine affirmed.

He expressed optimism that Extractive360.com would be a resource centre which advances the implementation of transparency and accountability principles in Nigeria’s extractive sector’’.

He charged the management of Extractive360.com to ensure the platform lives up to expectations of being a credible platform and tool that will assist in setting the agenda and shape conversation on natural resource governance and reforms in the industries.

In her contribution, the Country Manager of EITI, Ms. Murjanatu Gagawa congratulated the Extractive360.com management for the launch. She described the online publication as an interesting platform for EITI.
