The Nigeria Extractive Industries Transparency Initiative (NEITI) has expressed shock over the death of Dr.Mohammed Barkindo, the Secretary – General of the Organisation of the Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC).
Dr.Orji Ogbonnaya Orji, Executive Secretary, NEITI while eulogizing the sterling qualities of late Barkindo said that the country has lost a skilled, experienced and respected icon in the energy sector.
According to the NEITI boss, ”It is sad and unfortunate that Dr.Mohammed Barkindo would pass on at a time Nigeria is looking up to him for guidance on how we can maximise the opportunities presented by the Petroleum Industry Act (PIA) given his international exposure to the petroleum industry and his wealth of experience”
